Parliament Pool COVID-19 Update

Parliament Pool Update – COVID-19 Operating Guide

*WE ARE CURRENTLY PLANNING TO OPERATE UNDER PHASE III GUIDANCE. THIS OF COURSE COULD CHANGE AS WE GET CLOSER TO OPENING DAY. (UPDATED 3/17/2021)

PHASE III:

Managing Pool Capacity:

  • Phase III allows for open swim in the pool while maintaining social distance on deck. Chairs will be spaced apart to maintain social distancing.
  • Baby pool will be open at this time for two families.
  • Non-member day guests will not be permitted to use the pool. This is subject to change.
  • Based upon membership levels, a reservation system may be implemented and will be determined closer to the pool opening to ensure patrons’ safety.

Entry/Exit Procedures:

  • To reduce the number of people in the bathrooms at any given time, members will enter the pool through the gate next on the side.
  • Check-in will be contactless, as members need only provide their name(s) to the lifeguard.
  • Face coverings will be required while entering or exiting the facility and when interacting with staff members (exceptions for young children, etc. in accordance with Commonwealth of Virginia guidance).
  • Parliament Pool Staff will wear face coverings when interacting with members and in any situation where social distancing is difficult.

Restrooms:

  • Face coverings are required in the restrooms.
  • Please be considerate of our fellow members. If you enter the restroom and it is clear that you can’t maintain social distancing, please wait outside until one or more people leave. It is recommended that no more than two families be in the restroom at one time.
  • While showers and changing areas will be available, we strongly encourage you to shower and change at home prior to arriving at the pool.

Face Coverings:

  • Face coverings will be required while entering or exiting the facility and when interacting with staff members (exceptions for young children, etc. in accordance with Commonwealth of Virginia guidance).
  • Face coverings are required in the restroom.
  • Members should also wear a face covering in any situation where social distancing is difficult.
  • Parliament Pool Staff will wear face coverings when interacting with members and in any situation where social distancing is difficult.
  • Face coverings are not required in the pool.

Social Distancing:

  • As always, the priorities for the Parliament Pool staff are the safety of our members and maintaining the safety of our facility. Our Managers and Lifeguards will NOT be responsible for enforcing social distancing. We need every member to do their part to follow the guidelines to ensure a safe, fun summer for everyone.
  • Tape or markers to identify appropriate social distance (6-feet) will be positioned on the ground near the check-in desk and lifeguard office.
  • Members are responsible for maintaining social distancing in the pool as well as on the deck.
  • The amount of deck furniture available will be limited. Groupings of chairs will be arranged six feet apart on the deck. Members will be allowed to bring their own chairs if they so choose.

Staff Safety:

  • Parliament Pool Staff will be provided with masks and gloves.
  • Staff will wear face coverings when interacting with members and in any situation where social distancing is difficult.
  • Lifeguards will use precautions when providing medical aid, avoiding mouth to mouth or mouth to mask resuscitation when possible. Lifeguards will use a bag valve mask or positive pressure ventilator. Universal precautions should include at a minimum, gloves, masks, and eye protection.
  • Lifeguard stands will be cleaned each time staff members rotate to a new position.
  • Electronic equipment used for member and staff check-in will be cleaned between uses by different staff members.
  • No more than 1 person will be permitted in the lifeguard office at a time.

Safety Signage:

  • To adhere to government guidelines, new signs and notices will be posted throughout the facility to ensure members are informed of safety requirements for using the pool.

Cleaning:

  • To adhere to government guidelines, we are implementing a strict cleaning regime.
  • High touch surfaces and restrooms will be cleaned every 30 minutes.
  • Lifeguards will clean the deck using chlorine rinse.
